IBM'S MVS 3.8J is the last release of this operating system that was free to the public. All the releases after MVS 3.8J have been licensed materials. The MVS operating system architecture has it root in MVT. MVT was a non-virtual operating system first developed for the System/360 hardware platform. MVS built on MVT and added virtual storage along with many additional features and function. This section provides the reader with links to the left that are a reference to MVS and Volker Bandke's MVS 3.8J Turnkey system.
